Details, a work of fiction

Imagine if you would a fictional setting. The Sharks and the clam. One house and two apartments. The clam lived alone, peacefully by himself for months with nary a problem before the sharks moved in. Then the sharks started abusing their lease mostly because they associated with the local constabulary.

The clam is a solitary creature that just wants to be left alone. But the clam is being watched and his rights abused by the sharks. They come to the front porch and openly smoke marijuana, blang, clang and turn their music up loud. Oh and decide that since he doesn’t own a car, all the parking space is theirs.

But the clam lives just as he has for months. Solitary, isolated and maybe loud. But not as loud as the sharks can be. Why ? Because the clam has a black pearl, a little imperfection polished inside over the years. He is mentally and physically disabled. He has blackouts and reacts against his better nature. That little imperfection has grown over the years and is hurting not to cover all of it in his own reagents to quell the pain.

So one ay the sharks pounce. They rely on their affiliation with the local constabulary and report the clam for playing music too loud. No louder than they have nor any different than any other day.. And the police come.

Here there diverge into two stories. In one the officer knocks at the door and asks the clam to turn the noise down. The clam tried to say he’s going to and shuts the door. But the policeman shoves his foot into the door, keeping it open. Why ? does he have a right to ? Here’s where the stories diverge and as the shift supervisor says, there are only two witnesses, the clam and the policeman.

Maybe the policeman is afraid, or maybe he’s overbearing. In any case as long as the noise went down, who cares if the door is open or closed ? Only the policeman who proceeds inside and takes a pocket knife, perfectly legal, laying on the table. And so ensues the argument and disparity of stories.

Should the policeman not have come inside without a warrant or strong probable cause this would have ended the story. The noise would have been lowered and everything alright. But he didn’t, he came in, prying the clam open and hurting him with the imperfection. Something hurts the clam and the clam reacts with words at first.

Then the stories diverge again. The police only say that the clam had to be shoved into the wall twice and then tasered. The clam says yes, he did get smart and asked the police officer to step back outside. And tried to shut the door. He made remarks so the policeman pulled a gun on him. The policeman got threatened and pulled a taser. The clam again reacted with words but egged in the policeman to shoot him. When the policeman did, he ripped the wires from the gun. The police tasered him twice to subdue him then arrested him.

All the while the sharks are happy while the clam sits in jail without proper medication, nor has the Crisis Response Team intervened when called. The sharks are happy and the police are happy because they have aggravated a mentally disabled person to violence. All because the police were afraid and opened the door.

What can we do about it ? Remind NAMI (Nation Alliance of Mentally Ill to help take care of their own, remind the shift supervisor that the clam was in that apartment for months just fine until the sharks showed up. Put pressure on the local DA as to what really happened, a solitary clam flipped because of an abuse of force.

Why care ? Because it will probably happen to you if you don’t fit the demographic or the sharks move in next to you. they’ve taken me once and still didn’t learn their lesson.

It is simply in your best interest to reach out on this one.

You don’t know what you have until its gone

I’ve got to conserve what I have since the homestead since 1912 is now being sold. The extra items I need to reduce are books (self help, science fiction, cult, fantasy and textbooks plus a list of 2600+ comics Nd memorabilia )

Today I put on ebay some #43 Pepsi bottles:

And RIP to the house.

Mom will be turning 90 on Feb 22nd

Lost in the ether

How many times have you looked at something you’ve used a million times before ? Something simple, enticing and familiar. Now it turns on you in front of someone younger, maybe more advanced because they are in a position of more learning and supplies, maybe because now they are doing what you did.

It takes a lot to admit confusion in front of someone. Be it people you don’t want to show weakness in front of or strangers who have no idea what’s happening. It’s almost as bad as running naked in front of a bull.

Well, I’ve spent years with it, my little network, my ethernet. And I’m stumped. Harder to admit than you might think. Nerd, geek, stranger. I get by not because of some innate gift, but because I like it and will try every option I can think of.

It’s my router. And all of you could help, if they chose to.

The problem: it registers 30mbps at my computer just three feet from my iPad which registers 1 mbps.

I’m certified and spent over ten years dealing with this technology but can’t find a solution. So i’ve looked for an advantage. The technician who’s in control of a different technology will be here today to install with his expertise a different solution and I will learn from it.

Until time I”m asking you to help me come up with a solution to the mystery to a Netgear N600 router that won’t behave for me.

Not my revenge

Ever had someone so really mad at you that they’ll use the police to get back at you ? No matter that they do as bad or worse. They wait until you’re vulnerable then pounce with all the knowledge of you they’ve schemed to get. Next thing the police are there and you make a mis-step and bam, you wake up in jail ?

this will get you run out of your apartment. You can’t visit your friends and you get the great delousing technique – cold water spray bath. you can’t get your meds. And you’re freezing to death in the cold thin prison clothes with no underwear.

It happens. And there’s not a damn thing you can do about it.

Facing the fear and ridicule

I always tell my students and myself to put a name and face to your fear. That way you can have a coping solution to those butterflies in your stomach; a net and a jar with a lid. Not that it’s easy, by no means. But i’s easier than a general panic attack!

Then with the name and face to the fear, you can begin to understand it. Turn it, see what it looks like. Think outside the box until click! it fits into place just like a jigsaw puzzle.

It’s easy to figure out that your reaction to a “Please leave me alone” is not your responsibility. It’s a scared and rude response to an innocent email. Then figure out what you would do; ignore it and move on ! See naming is a coping mechanism and a distraction. Butterflies and fear is to warn us to do something and running around like a chicken with its head cut off accomplished nothing but to avoid what your instincts are telling you to do.

Or before a situation that could be seen as a confrontation, but is nothing but a bottom line stance substantiated by facts outside yourself. They have nothing to confront but facts. You may be either rusty or learning, but allow yourself the strength to stand still.

Sometimes you just have to know the fear is there for a good reason, but you have to relax.Because it’s coming anyway and the only way to survive is to relax. Sounds weird doesn’t it ? But without relaxing, the tension causes the pain and fear to intensify.

Hope alone won’t help. Cope as well. Get yourself out of the way with your strengths, not give in o you weaknesses.

What would we do without good meds ?

I have a $700 car repair, a HUGE credit card debt, doctor appointments, medicines to buy, etc.. If I didn’t have some very good friends and others I’m concerned about, I’d be in Delta from just the stress alone.

It’s hard to believe that the largest consumers of anti-depressives are Case Workers, Social.

Life is like chocolats, you never get what you want and it happens.

Live well and be at peace.

Testing a new offline editor

It took hours to find that there is no setting to update when adding Blogpress to WordPress. Just get your name and password right and it will work just fine.

Here are the picture of the pipe with chip I promised. Isn’t it sad you’re not supposed to trust anyone in business. Get burned once and you will change your mind.

Business is business

There was a day that business wasn’t to be a sport where you were only out for yourself. Matter of fact see someone from a generation ago and most will still tell you that a transaction was supposed to be a win-win situation. No more. I was trying to make the best of a bad situation recently when i royally got screwed. Shipping broke the item in question and the buyer blamed me. Against the merchant code, I issued a full refund before receiving the item back. it came back missing piieces and crammed into a box.

I’d show you the picture when I learn wordpress better. It doesn’t seem to have an option to insert media.

Anyway, balance that against a local company who is going to replace my bad drive in my computer with a good one just to satisfy my need for a computer to function.

You never know anymore. I have two people I trust unconditionally, but beyond that it’s the old latin (yup, that old) consumer beware.
